Upcoming works on Green Street, Standford Lane, and Farnham Road

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is investing £10.6million in the local electricity network; with works progressing to install a new underground high-voltage electricity circuits between Alton and Bordon. Once completed, it will boost the reliability of the local network and to enable greater flexibility as homes and businesses move to low-carbon technologies.

Our planned works and road closures

To conduct this work safely, a number of roads will close to through traffic for a period. The schedule of works is as follows:

  • Green Street: 1 August 2024 – 31 August 2024. The team will undertake Horizontal Directional Drilling works between Lode Farm and Christmas Cottage and stay in that location.
  • Standford Lane: 5 August 2024 – 26 August 2024. The team will start trenching from the junction with Mill Chase Road and move south.
  • Farnham Road: 29 August 2024 – 25 September 2024. The team will start trenching from the A325 roundabout and move south.

To see where the team is working , the interactive map is kept up to date and can be viewed on the project’s webpage.

Please note this schedule is subject to change depending on site and weather conditions. Other works may also be scheduled, with details shared separately.

Keeping you informed

A postcard is being delivered by Royal Mail, to those most closely affected, with further details. A copy of the postcard can be found here.

In addition to the postcard, we are preparing press, radio, and digital advertising to raise greater awareness of the remaining programme of works.  We will also be holding a community drop-in event where residents can meet the team, discuss the works, and ask any questions they may have.

The drop-in event will take place on:

  • 18 July from 3pm – 7pm at The Shed in Bordon (GU35 0DJ)

A diversion route will be signposted

Whilst the works are conducted, a temporary diversion route will be signposted. Maps of the road closures, traffic management and diversion routes can be found on our website. If you or your constituents are concerned about accessing your property during this time, please contact us using the details found in this notice.

Maintaining local access

Please be reassured that people who live or work on a road we close can still drive in and out. Residents, delivery drivers, blue light services and the council’s waste collection service can all still use the road in both directions, via the diversion route, up to where the team is working. Pedestrian access is always maintained.

Good to know

There are no power cuts planned as part of these works.

Whilst we conduct this work, we aim to keep any noise and disruption to a minimum. The team works Monday to Friday: 7am – 5pm, Saturday: 8am – 4pm and Sunday: 9am – 3pm.
